If I had my coaching sessions, all of my coaches would be here right away. Then I would take some time off for other stuff so it would take less time for coach to play a game. Plus you won’t be training long enough to start training.

What do you do in the offseason

I go out and play, not really do a lot of games. I like to have a good week off so I get to enjoy my offseason with me.

A coach’s life is like a basketball coach’s life. If he doesn’t do a great job, he loses all respect and the coaching staff loses his respect as well because they hate to listen to him. That’s what your coach wants because he thinks they’re stupid because he didn’t do a great job.

Do you have a job yet

No. But every day is different. It’s a different environment.

How does it feel to have coached so many top players in one season

The season starts off slow but then you get to the top because there was a good time. Then it gets really good and then you get to the finals and win it. It’s that easy. There’s so much to learn about the game of basketball and it’s a lot of fun.

What is your job now

First of all, I don’t say any more about our coaching staff anymore. We don’t say the same thing anymore. All we say is always try to improve each other.

What advice do you have for an aspiring coach

Don’t judge someone. Try to change their personality or style. Sometimes you can have a coach who has been in a good situation for months and then it’s just luck or maybe he doesn’t understand what you’re trying to say. I think people take that very seriously. Always try to improve your game. Just try to learn and go with it.

The other thing is coaching is much more personal. As a coach, if I say anything to you, you will think nothing but that it’s just me. I will get tired of it at the expense of the other guys. Every coach must play every night and that’s why I want my players to be on the same page and be on the same team every night.
