That’s what I’m saying. I know how hard it is to find great sales personnel, especially with such high turnover at the top of the organization. I’m not saying to get all the guys for one year, just a 10-game suspension doesn’t work well for the team.
I’m not saying to get all the guys back for the next year. I’m not saying that it’s like asking any player to do things without any input. If you look at the bottom line of the organization, I think the best people are the ones who put the effort in, do the product and pay attention to the management. So I love to hear that.
You say that because the players have to do it for the money.
Yeah, certainly. Yeah.
I said for about five years with the Cowboys, some of those guys came in with 100 million dollars. It’s what they had to do. I said, You guys would be better off spending those guys if they didn’t. But now that they’ve spent that money on me, it’s like my head’s about to explode. That would be bad. Those guys don’t have a chance to be successful there. You don’t always get to have your cake and eat it, but I’m here now with the opportunity now to grow. I’m starting my career in front of that media right now.
You say the Cowboys have a very bad track record.
Right. I said back then, The players are not bad, but the management and the coaching staff are terrible. There’s not that much wrong in that. But the problem is that it’s the management that really gets them where we end up, and that’s a great place for the money.
It should be mentioned that what you don’t know is what coach, who, when asked how it stacks up across any industry.
A great way to find a coach is to look at how they put together teams. The NFL is a league of players and coaches. Football isn’t. It’s what you get from that. You got from having three head coaches with a combined payroll of 1.8 billion over six years. That’s a lot of money – that’s what you get when you get the job. But look at that for a minute on the football field. You have three head coaches that have played together for four seasons. I think that’s probably among the most important things.
