No, but we have seen a great deal of demand. For example, you are talking about two hundred thousand people who call every single hour, every day over the last fifteen years in the United States. In the USA we’ve seen the growth in the number of young people in my office. I think in these cases there will be many benefits to the health of the patient. We do have to be careful about getting too young, too old, too old on the drug. You take the young ones out, and you turn them over to pharmacists. You know, you’re not trying to make them sick. You’re trying to get them off of opioids. If we could take a group that was 20 or 30 and we could give it some kind of counseling in some point, we would be able to take care of them. It would be really a lot less difficult to get them off the drug. I think we will see another decade of that. If you were trying to help people at 18 years of age and you knew there was a problem, you would probably have told them to go to the emergency room in order to try their medicine, they would have seen it, and you would have found a solution. I think we will see that. Some pharmaceutical companies, like Merck, are beginning to give more patients pain medications than they were before they were on opioids. I would love to see them change their prescribing practices. We need to get all these young people onto an opioid medicine program and we cannot help them.

You talk about being an early learner on your way out of chronic pain by teaching them to take a painkillers like Vicodin and Adderall. What has it been like working with pharmaceutical companies

The idea that one of my mentors is in this field of medicine is quite intriguing. He is a pioneer and the first in a long line of early drug-takers and researchers. He has a really wide-ranging background in medicine, a real commitment to the safety of drugs, a desire for transparency, for making sure the health care system works well for all of us, and that is what he is really focused on all day. He has a great eye, and he brings a lot of knowledge to this organization.
