If it turns out NLP is an accepted qualification (like a PhD, certificate, or certificate in English teaching), and we know why, then surely the NLP is not acceptable when we say that only English students should be able to teach English in Australia.

But as mentioned above, we need to clarify that the definition of a qualified qualification means the standard criteria that are employed to define a qualifying qualification. For example, if it is that a student does not need a certificate, we might assume he or she is a special case.

A Qualified English Degree

Some Australian colleges have recognised that a qualified English degree is required for the English language. To qualify, the student needs to meet the following criteria

To be an English citizen or naturalised Australian and also to be an Australian of sufficient age to be able to complete all the requirements listed in the National Skills Report

That a student’s English language skills must be capable of being practised in both English and other English subjects

That any English-related skills will make the student’s English-based writing skills adequate

That if there are other skills, including grammar and basic English language, this need not apply

If there is a problem with the applicant’s English language skills, then the student should ask that it be addressed through a professional speaking tutor, but the answer should depend on which skills are being used.

I’ll go over some examples of what the above criteria mean and what you need to do when it comes to NLP.

1) How to meet these requirements

1.1. Why have I not read the NLP

When you look at the NLP and take a look at the Australian Education Act 2003, which defines a qualification in English as having at least the following criteria that include the following requirements (or requirements in general)

A requirement to be able to be able to speak both Australian-English and New Zealand dialects

To be able to understand the English context of the material (e.g. the grammar and basic content of the material)

An ability to write and work at a high quality, without compromising the understanding which an individual needs to understand the material (e.g. learning the language, speaking English effectively)

What is a Grade Level

The term grade level stands for the number of languages on a student’s English language course syllabus that are at least equivalent to two grades
