The former Labour MP, John Whitham, has lost his bid for a seat in the Scottish Parliament. He lost by about 12,000 votes and lost by around 1.5 million votes to his former partner and former deputy in the House of Lords, David Mundell.
According to the Edinburgh Mail, a member of Whitham’s parliamentary committee who has represented him for many years, he is still very much a Labour prospect.
John Whitham was not, from an ethical background, at all sure he was a candidate to fill the vacated seat of Glasgow mayor. The fact that the MP is currently in Glasgow cannot have made anyone uncomfortable, said the local newspaper.

Whitham took a stand on BBC Radio 1’s Evening Standard and spoke in reference to the recent migration from Labour.
He said I have a hard time finding anything more to do with the Labour party. I’m very much in favour of staying with Labour in Scotland and I do not agree with what the Tory party is doing in that region as a whole.
He added I’m going to be back in Scotland and I will never quit Labour in the way that it has been for all those years.
Mundell, now 67, said the decision to leave the Lib Dems was
