A year after its inception, the USS Voyager was the flagship of the United Federation of Planets and was in space when its own species, the Kazon, was established.

By 31 BBY, Enterprise Voyager was part of the Starfleet Enterprise Expedition 21, led by Commander Picard.

The Voyager was a large vessel with ten engines and four turrets. While it had only ten in a crew for a single mission, it had more than a dozen sensors, and some of these were placed into the ship’s control room, where a small robot was installed. When asked by Dr. Crusher if its purpose was to carry people to Mars, the robot replied Well, if it’s to see the Kazon in our midst, why not a ship 2

On a personal level, a small number of engineering staff and technicians on the Voyager were among the crew members, but most were on the crew of the USS Enterprise.1

While Voyager left the planet behind on the Enterprise, Wesley Crusher and J.T. 33 were among the crew aboard the Enterprise, in what became known as the Kazon station. At first, the crew was in charge of two Kazon stations. When the Kazon were awakened, they were in a position to set off a bomb.

When two Kazon personnel approached aboard Enterprise, they were captured by the crew of the Enterprise and imprisoned by the Kazon. It is unknown why this happened. When the team were finally released, the Kazon were taken under their command and the two crew members were executed.

At the time of Wesley’s incarceration, in a private space hangar, several Kazon were discovered. A few survived to tell about their experience.
