That is the first question in this question for every self-signed certification. We are working with the California Secretary of State to create a process in place for self-certification.

The process we are using is a combination of

A self-certification by the state that a self-signed self-certification is valid for at least 2 years for each class and

A certification by the California Health Board approved by the board after a 5-year review process. That process is now closed.

How long will self-certification take

We want to ensure the validity of self-certified medical information while in compliance with the California Privacy Protection Act.

How long does it take to get certification

We are working with the California Health Board for the certification process to include the verification period for current and new medical records. The certification period is 2 years from the date of the certification.

If you have questions, contact your medical records office.

Are you subject to medical malpractice liability policies

Yes. California law requires that all self-certification requests, including that of medical records, be considered for health reasons.

Who are eligible to get a copy or proof of a self-certification

If you have a copy of information about your primary and secondary care physician from a medical database obtained by the California Health Board.
