The U.S. Air Force has approved the first civilian flight of an A-10 fighter jet (A-10C) into orbit and is expected to launch in 2018.

The Gadget of War is an A-10 unit used to ferry warplanes and their payloads into the sky, and is the longest-serving U.S. military aircraft capable of operating on the ground for any given mission.
The Surface Combatant, or B-1, is an A-10 warplane capable of providing support and defensive capabilities and is used to conduct mission support and reconnaissance. It is flown in conjunction with a U.S.-European joint U.S.-Russia security plan, known as the Joint Forces Concept.
