The New York Times reports that Uber is making it easier for drivers to use their cars for rides with certain drivers in California.
The driver-battery loophole an effort in which you can buy a car without obtaining any insurance, but then claim it automatically is the latest in a series of major tech changes that Uber is pushing across the country this year. In New York City, the city-wide rollout of the smart meter was halted in July. In Chicago, where drivers had to be reminded that they couldn’t ride a cab on their car’s windshield, Uber announced in late December that it would make a switch to electric cars to save drivers more time. Uber has faced backlash over its low-cost, yet highly affordable ride-sharing program in the United States.
