Photography is for anybody who wants to work for any business or organisation that needs to create beautiful works of art, especially for the benefit of those with disabilities.

What career prospects have you pursued at different companies Tell us about their background.

My brother is from South Africa. After school he went to work for the World Heritage Committee, where he was involved in building the world’s first photographic archival equipment for the World Heritage Committee. It involved his dad working at DHL in the UK.

As such, I have always wanted to take film.

I wanted to travel and shoot with the world. What’s your favourite story

My favourite story that I can tell you about my younger self. I grew up on an island somewhere in the southern part of the island. As I was growing up and became involved with film, I was taught that there was something deeply wrong about what we see in the air. It really brought up two questions that have continued to haunt me for the past 50 years. Firstly, why does something that feels like it should be something special happen so quickly and what does that have to do with me Secondly, as the younger years progressed, I learned about everything that makes photography interesting… how not to focus so much on a moment, and how to avoid the illusion that something is going to happen.

It was in my early 20s when I first got into film. What was it like becoming involved in an environment that was so totally out of your comfort zone

I started out very young and had been in film so as a young adult it wasn’t easy to get into the business because nobody cared about film so I had no clue how to take it into their own hands and make something that really touched them.

What have you learned about making a great film on a budget

That is a tough question to answer as we are both in the business and I know quite a few people who do. I have a great deal of respect and admiration from everyone in the business that was involved with making this documentary, and I do think it’s important that film is an extremely safe place to be.

It is interesting to note that in my research background I have studied, or am doing research on, just about everything you need to make art. To what extent are there any areas in your knowledge that are not fully explored

Here at the time no one had even a passing knowledge of what makes what. There were
