The free-software license says that Corel uses the GNU project for providing and maintainance, but this does not cover any other projects that run on it.
Why don’t we make Corel open source
The software can be built, modified, removed and re-used. So far, nobody has done that and nobody has come up with a reason (like a community of developers or open source organizations). We have built our own projects and used software that is available on Github.
If Corel could find out more about the GPL and see that this is just a free license, who would.
Why do these companies refuse to give us their support
Because they think we are part of the problem. We do NOT need to sell the software. There’s no need for us to help them or even accept any donations.
If you were going to be giving to the Corel foundation this year, but you donated instead the code, that’s not what Corel is all about.
Can we make the Corel platform free
Yes. Corel’s free distribution can make more money than just a GPLed version. Just like LibreOffice or OpenOffice, it works the same way. All you have to do is say yes, and you have our best interest at heart.
Does the Corel platform work with any other OS
No. For instance, in Fedora, we don’t use Linux distributions. Fedora uses Mac OS X. If Corel could show you in a Linux installation how to install Corel on all your Macs (and not on your PC, since those two platforms do share the same compiler), this is where Corel can be used.
Is Corel compatible with Windows and Linux
Yes. Every release of Corel (and any Open Source OS) works. We only use Open Source packages we have been told is compatible with Windows and Linux and can run under no problems.
Can we support Corel with any software you’re distributing without the permission of the Corel Foundation
No. Because we are providing Open Source software and it doesn’t need to be released under GPL (don’t let the GPL tell you that).
How can we help with GPLed projects like Corel
If we find a way to make the project free, so far they haven’t even suggested we make an Open Source version (which only works on Windows and Linux). We
